Strengthening Community Bonds
with Colonial Beach Community Heart & Soul

The Monroe Bay Winery played host to a remarkable event on October 15th, showcasing the efforts of Colonial Beach Community Heart & Soul in bringing the 22443 community together. Attendees enjoyed delectable food from Densons and live music from Karen Jonas and Tim Bray, making for a memorable day that embodied the program's success in fostering a sense of community.

Kelly Woods Vaughn, Mike Mohler, Michele Merhling, Glenna Darlington, Nadine Tyreman, Michael Whelan, Mike & Joan Fitzpatrick, Glenna Darlington, coach Ann Glave, and program coordinator Stephanie Trivett make up the team behind the program, working tirelessly to ensure the event ran smoothly. Colonial Beach Community Heart & Soul seeks to promote a shared vision that reflects the input of as many people in the community as possible.

Since its start, the program has grown considerably, with an expanded core team, multiple trainings, and two grants raising over $25,000 to support its cause. Currently in phase 2 of its four-part plan – focused on collecting data and gathering stories – the team aims to collect 1,000 surveys and conduct in-depth interviews to ensure representation from all community segments.

The program's ultimate goal is to unite the community in creating a shared vision with actionable items that everyone can contribute to. With the success of the recent event, the team is excited to continue moving the program forward. They encourage all community members to participate and spread the word to friends, neighbors, coworkers, and relatives.
